Why I'm Passionate About Healthcare Supply Chain

My passion for healthcare supply chain stems from its critical role in saving lives and supporting public health through the timely delivery of essential supplies and services. I'm also driven by the inefficiencies in the U.S. healthcare system—despite high spending, we rank low in outcomes and face widespread medical bankruptcies. This motivates me to push for real, measurable improvements across all areas of healthcare performance.

What positive improvements have you observed BlueBin Solutions' impact healthcare organizations?

I’ve worked in healthcare for over 35 years and saw BlueBin’s impact when it launched 15 years ago. Its approach to digitizing and streamlining inventory and supply chain management quickly stood out. BlueBin drives cost savings, improves clinical and operational outcomes, supports sustainability, enhances resilience, and advances GS1 adoption—all contributing to stronger healthcare performance.

Outside of Work

Southern California offers endless activities outside of work. I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and exploring beaches and towns along the PCH. I also frequent art exhibits, live music events, new restaurants, and pro sports games, and volunteer throughout LA County. Lately, I’ve been exploring lots of Mexico

  • Frontiers: The effect of moral distress on emergency nurses' job burnout: the mediating roles of hospital ethical climate and moral resilience
Emergency nurses experiencing moral distress are at significantly higher risk of job burnout—but this study finds that a strong hospital ethical climate and high moral resilience can break that chain, acting as critical buffers; investing in ethical leadership, peer support, and resilience training is essential to protect staff well-being, reduce turnover, and sustain safe, high-quality patient care.

Small rural hospitals in Iowa are facing a severe and worsening staffing crisis—driven by retirements, burnout from the COVID-19 pandemic, recruitment challenges, and poor retention—forcing them to rely on expensive travel nurses and leaving remaining staff overextended, under-supported, and often emotionally exhausted, while state leaders pursue long-term policy fixes like expanded training slots and licensing reforms.

      • NJBIZ: Hospitals continue search for staff burnout solutions
Hospitals are tackling workforce shortages and clinician burnout with team-based care models, flexible scheduling, advanced AI and monitoring technologies, in-house training programs, and expanded wellness initiatives—all aimed at reducing stress, improving patient care, and retaining staff in an increasingly demanding healthcare environment.
